Board President

Angela “Angie” Galvis is an attorney with extensive experience litigating immigrant rights and the rights of families, because justice and equality for Latino families are something worth fighting for. She is also deeply committed to empowering women through economic success, recognizing it as essential to the well-being of their families and children.

Gina Gómez
Board Treasurer

Gina Gómez, originally from Bogotá, Colombia, is the Executive Director of El Centro Hispano, one of Arkansas’s most trusted community organizations. With a degree in Psychology from La Sabana University, she has led El Centro for 22 of its 27 years, expanding its statewide impact in education, health, entrepreneurship, legal support, and cultural programming. Her leadership has benefited thousands of Hispanic and immigrant families, earning honors such as the inaugural Arkansas Latino Hall of Fame Award, the 2024 NEA Outstanding Business Award, and the Key to the City of Jonesboro. Recognized among Arkansas’s 250 Most Influential Leaders and the Top 100 Women of Impact, Gina is known as a proactive leader who makes things happen and continues to champion equity and empowerment across the state.

Maria Touchstone
Board Secretary

Maria Guadalupe Touchstone is a veteran teacher/educator with over 3 decades of experience. She is an advocate for children from poverty, and also believes in community service and volunteerism. Maria believes in the power of relationships and kindness.

Rep. Diana Gonzales Worthen

Rep. Diana Gonzales Worthen, the first Latina legislator in Arkansas history, is serving her first term in the Arkansas House representing District 9 in East Springdale. With over 35 years of experience in education, she has served as an educator, principal investigator, and director of Project ELEVATE, leading multiple U.S. Department of Education grants and initiatives to expand opportunities for students. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Arkansas and advanced certifications in education, alongside degrees from the University of Texas at Dallas, University of Houston, and Blinn Jr. College.

Beyond her professional work, she has been a leader in civic and community organizations, including as Founding President of the Hispanic Women’s Organization of Arkansas and co-founder of OneCommunity, while also serving on numerous boards focused on equity and education. Widely recognized for her contributions to public service and education, she has received multiple awards for leadership and community impact. She resides in Springdale with her husband of more than 40 years and is the mother of Dr. Laura Worthen, a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist.

Daniel Martinez

Daniel Martinez is a community leader, entrepreneur, and proud Lockesburg native dedicated to the growth of southwest Arkansas. A graduate of the University of Arkansas Cossatot, he serves as the Accounting Manager at Pilgrim’s in De Queen and is involved in several local business ventures, including the beloved Tres Agaves Mexican Restaurant. He is married to Montserrat, and together they are raising their daughter, Catalina. Daniel has served in leadership roles on various community boards, including as President of the Sevier County Chamber of Commerce and as a current board member of the Arkansas Latino Hall of Fame. In 2020, he was appointed to the Arkansas Law Enforcement Task Force by Governor Asa Hutchinson.

Veronica Ozura

Veronica Ozura is the Economic Development Director for Sevier County, Arkansas, where she leads strategic efforts to grow local business, advance workforce opportunities, boost tourism, and enhance overall quality of life. She is also a licensed counselor and owner of Vida Counseling, LLC, blending mental health expertise with community leadership. A proud De Queen native, Veronica holds bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Sociology from Arkansas Tech University, a master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas A&M–Texarkana, and a master’s in School Counseling from the University of Central Arkansas. Her career spans advocacy, education, and economic development, all rooted in a commitment to empowerment and resilience.

Veronica was a key member in the development of UA Cossatot’s Fiesta Fest, a signature event that celebrates cultural diversity while raising scholarship funds for non-Pell-eligible students, and served on the team dedicated to the college’s designation as Arkansas’s first Hispanic-Serving Institution. She currently serves on multiple local and state boards and is recognized for her data-driven, people-first approach to building strong, lasting impact.
